Cricket friendly we...!!

I recently had a small vacation...and this is just a small fond memory of my flight trip with my two todds.

My almost two year old son.... the calmer of the two (should I say) gave me the first picture of things to come... with him I thought it would be wise to travel with a stroller, thats the only way I could have controlled the two of them.... but no... my usually calm son protested just when we stepped into the airport.... thankfully and wisely I returned the stroller back to my husband who came to drop us at the airport. And so now my son was free to run anywhere!!!

My five year old daughter... the ever inquisitive one.... was in best of her elements that day. The moment we checked in and went towards the security check .. she saw a counter of MAGGI!! and lo.. forgetting that she just had her stomach full of curd rice.. she wanted maggi that very moment.... !! Thanks to the fear she still has for policemen ... I could divert her attention to them ... and she soon forgot Maggi.... Thank god for small mercies in life!
But No.... the question and answer sessions I had with her till we boarded the flight was the worst I had in 3 years ....!! Surprisingly I dint lose my cool... may be I was being too civilized in the airport. while my son ran to have a closer look at the aeroplane and me behind him... my daughter chose to have a closer look at the other shops in the airport. She finally cast her eyes on an outlet which sold children's books and we ended up buying an activity book worth Rupees 300....!!
and so with all the extra baggage we bought we finally boarded the flight... but my daughter's Q's dint stop there... her queries went on and on... to a point where I had to tell her to stop... I simply told her.."Baby... I dont want to hear a single word anymore....." and my dutiful daughter replied OK... but just in a fraction of a second I heard a humming sound... when I gave my angry look to my daughter... she just said.. "but I am not talking.... I am just singing" and singing what.."all is well" which happens to be my sons fav song too.... So Now I had two of them ....!!! at this point my co passenger just laughed and so did the passengers seated in the front......!!!

That was the day when the Cricket WC 2011was having its best match .. India V/s England at Bengaluru. Like every Indian we all wanted to know the score.... specially after India's target to England... sitting way beyond the 300 runs mark... we all expected a clear win....!! But our pilot was kind enuf to give us a report on the match every 10-15 minutes. It was amazing to see that the whole aircraft was behaving as if we were right at the stadium cheering the team. With each wicket there were claps and applauds and with big hit by England there were boos and disappointment ...!!! It was during the climax of this match when the air hostess came up with the list of snacks.... !! My daughter was sure she was not getting anything to eat... but still she thought she could try her luck.... and she said.."amma can I have a burger"... I said Sure.... and she couldn't believe it.... thankfully the air hostess had run outof burgers that day so my daughter had to settle for a sandwich...(the size of which made a her quite happy) and my son settled well on my lap... chose to give me those looks.."only for akka... what about me" but my kind daughter shared a bit of the sandwich with her lill bro which kind of settled them for a while. In the meanwhile the captain updated on the fall of a wicket and the whole aircraft was now thundering with claps....!! and then came the end of the match which was a total let down with India and England "TIE" .... and the usual post mortem of the match was in full swing in the aircraft.... well of course in whispers with each one only talking to their co passengers seated next to them..... by now... my daughter had finished her sandwich and my son littering it all around me, she wanted something to drink... as expected the choice of juices dint appeal to my daughter and to my surprise she replied to the air hostess...."No thank you... Only water will do"!!! I was stunned.... since when on earth did she start using such polite words...!! anyways... we finally landed at our destination.. and my daughter was excited looking at more aeroplanes.... more so because she recognised them.. Jet airways.... Spice Jet..... Go Air.... !! So now that we were finally getting down ... our co passenger sitting on the window seat waited for me to give him some way to get out.... and while leaving told me he had an interesting flight with the lill angels travelling with me... and also added an "All the best" for all your future travels !!

My sweet daughter helped my mom travelling with us to get the baggage from the conveyer belt and then sat on the trolley with the luggage to ensure she dint have to really exercise much to get out of the airport. My son chose to sleep ... !!!! When we finally reached our cab and parked ourselves well in the cab.... my daughter asked me a simple question.. " Amma you kept asking me to be quiet and not talk... but then why were you all clapping and laughing and talking every time after that pilot uncle said something"..... well.... I just dint reply to her...!! Am sure in another 10 years time.... she will have her answers!!

Arent we all one cricket frenzy nation....!! On that note I wish we really win our semi final clash with Pak. whether we win the cup or not... !! :)) But then.. may the best team of the day win! :)
